Consider conducting your own study on the Cleary Reserve
At Cleary Reserve, we provide opportunities for environmental education and scientific research through access for field trips to intact wild habitat in Napa County California. Our site has two water falls (65 foot and 50 foot), the perennial Swartz Creek, and a mix of habitats bisected by maintained trails. Observation and study or wildlife are abundant, with nearly a dozen special status species, and numerous common wildlife and plant species.
The recent Pickett Fire devastated our site. It not only re-burned the site (The Glass Fire burned most of the Cleary, but spared the buildings and water system), but burned over already burned and downed trees, which elevated the fire to the tree tops where we had crown fires that removed much of the woodland vegetation. The crown fire then moved quickly through the site and jumped to the Olive Tree house (built in 1920), and then to the Darby Lodge (the stone house, built in 1940).
Thanks to the Pickett Fire
